I always thought little things really didn't matter—until one random five-minute desk clean turned my week upside down. It all began because I didn't have a pen. My desk was messy: abandoned mugs, chargers knotted together, bills I ignored, a notebook buried under a pile of papers. I had been promising myself that I'd clean up "when I had time," which was to say, never.
So I grabbed my phone, set a timer for five minutes, and I went. To tell you the truth, I was like, 'Hmm, I'm halfway through, but I just won't stop there.' Cleaning up the mess was like clearing my head. I did in fact clean the drawers, wipe everything off, sharpen pencils I hadn't remembered to keep in mind and put things back in a way that actually made sense.
A clean space, a clear mind.
"A clean desk didn't magically remedy my issues, but it changed how I approached my problems. The smallest reset can become the biggest one."
I added a candle in the corner and a little vase with eucalyptus, and then placed my favorite notebook right in the middle. My desk looked like somewhere I wanted to actually sit. It was an invitation to stop, think, act.
The next morning, I was sitting down at my neat desk and, no joke, my brain just clicked. Ideas showed up. Tasks didn't feel so heavy. My mood was lighter all day.
